We aim to stimulate interest in Fauquier County and Virginia history by preserving the evidence of our past, connecting it to our present and educating the community about its importance to our future.

The Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail
The Fauquier Historical Society has over 300 members dedicated to preserving Fauquier County's rich history. We maintain a local museum, housed in an 1808 jail, in Warrenton beside the Fauquier County Courthouse.

Friday-Monday, 11AM - 4PM
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: CLOSED
**The museum will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, & Easter.
Covid-19 Restrictions and Policies
We ask that visitors adhere to the following requirements:
- Please wear a facemask while walking through the museum.
- Maintain social distance between groups.
- Wash your hands and sanitize when the opportunity presents itself.
- If possible, use credit rather than cash.
We are under a 10 person max limitation. If we are at capacity when you arrive, not to worry! We will take your name, number and direct you to some great places you can check out in old town Warrenton while you are waiting. When our numbers go down, we will call and tell you we are ready!
