The Fauquier History Museum welcomes visitors throughout the week with convenient daytime hours, offering plenty of opportunities to explore the rich history preserved within our two historic jail buildings.

Museum Hours

  • Sunday – Monday: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

  • Tuesday: Closed

  • Wednesday – Saturday: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Whether you are planning a weekend outing, a family visit, or an afternoon exploring historic Warrenton, the museum provides a fascinating and memorable experience for visitors of all ages. Take your time discovering original jail cells, historic artifacts, rotating exhibits, and the compelling stories of the prisoners, jailers, and community members who shaped Fauquier County’s past.

Please note that the museum is closed on the following holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. During the winter months, the museum will also close when Fauquier County schools are closed due to inclement weather or hazardous conditions.

We encourage visitors to check ahead during the winter season and holiday periods to ensure the museum is open before traveling.
